(en) Time and again, attempts are made to negotiate and present subculture within an academic and institutional framework. Much of this remains strangely empty of content—superficial, romanticized, intellectualized, or difficult to comprehend. How can a transfer of subcultural capital into an academic and institutional art space take place without abandoning the values of subculture—and without claiming subcultural commons for oneself?

STALL/SHRINE makes a central and unusual object in the club room visible: the club toilet. Toilets form another intimate constriction in the club's narrow space. A shameful private place becomes a social and collective space and yet evades visibility. The actions within him are hidden from the outside, although at the same time it is clear what is happening there. STALL/SHRINE touches on boundary areas that evoke a spectrum of emotional involvement, such as shame, intimacy, sexuality, object administration, pleasure drive and death drive. Anti-stage, non-space social sculpture - the installation object is released for performances, sound installations, readings. The performers are free to choose how they want to use it. The object can include and exclude, and outsiders can be denied insight and entry. The toilet door can remain open, half-open or closed.

(de) Immer wieder wird versucht, Subkultur im akademischen und institutionellen Rahmen zu verhandeln und zu präsentieren. Vieles bleibt dabei seltsam inhaltsleer, oberflächlich, romantisiert, intellektualisiert oder schwer nachvollziehbar. Wie kann ein Transfer von subkulturellem Kapital in einen akademischen und institutionellen Kunstraum stattfinden, ohne die Werte der Subkultur preiszugeben und ohne subkulturelle Commons für sich selbst zu beanspruchen?

STALL/SHRINE macht ein genauso zentrales wie ungewöhnliches Objekt aus dem Clubraum sichtbar: die Clubtoilette. Toiletten bilden in der Verengung des Clubs eine weitere intime Verengung. Ein schambehafteter privater Ort wird zum sozialen und kollektiven Raum und entzieht sich doch der Sichtbarkeit. Die Handlungen in ihm vor dem Außen verborgen, obwohl gleichzeitig klar ist, was dort passiert. STALL/SHRINE berührt Grenzbereiche, die ein Spektrum an emotionaler Involviertet hervorrufen, wie Scham, Intimität, Sexualität, Objektadministration, Pleasure Drive und Death Drive. Anti-Stage , Nicht-Raum soziale Skulptur – das installative Objekt wird für Performances, Soundinstallationen, Lesungen freigegeben. Dabei wird den Performenden freigestellt, wie sie es nutzen wollen. Das Objekt kann ein- und ausschließen, der Einblick und der Eintritt kann Außenstehenden verweigert werden. Die Toilettentür kann offen, halboffen oder geschlossen bleiben.
